The test room and testing in Cimma

The testing room of Cimma Morandotti S.p.A. is the place where the customer’s industrial idea is consolidated. Here we carry out grinding, pulverization and micronization tests on the customer’s materials, using all the technologies we propose, such as hammer and grid mills, the peg mill also cryogenic, the micronizer with integrated dynamic selector, and other types of mills of our own construction. The goal? To reduce particle size to the target size specified by the customer.

Why test in our testing room

Our in-house test room is used to conduct technology tests and confirm the process data of the project submitted by the customer. In our test room, the most suitable grinding, pulverizing and grading machine for the customer’s needs can be identified from among the many industrial machines installed.

The 4-step testing path

Within the rehearsal room, each activity is divided into a clear and collaborative process consisting of four basic steps:

1. Agreement on the material to be processed

This first phase is crucial: we define together with the client the characteristics of the material to be tested(nature, grain size, moisture, thermal sensitivity, etc.), and identify, after afocused and effective analysis, the most appropriate technology for thedesired objective.

2. Receipt and preparation of materials

The material is delivered to Cimma headquarters by agreeing in advance on the material characteristics, quantity, type of packaging, and operational procedures of the test. Each sample is identified and prepared according to traceable and customized procedures.

3. Performance of the test

The material can be processed by one of our plants with hammer milling technology, peg mills, micronizers with integrated or independent dynamic classifiers; often a combination of these. We identify the most suitable mill from those with passage of material into the mill by gravity through a screen or aspirates with integrated classifiers and product delivery to the cyclone and/or process filter. If necessary, we conduct comparative tests to define the best solution.

All operational parameters are monitored during the tests: flow rate, temperature, particle size distribution. The customer can be present at the test, receive real-time updates and/or analyze the report prepared after the tests.

4. End result: report and proposal

After the tests are completed, a detailed report with all the results is released:

  • description of the technology used
  • machine-plant operating parameters
  • Particle size curve (laser diffraction granulometer);
  • Plant performance and degree of efficiency;
  • Any machine-plant proposals and possible industrial scale-up.

The data collected can be used to design customized plants or to optimize existing processes.

What can be tested in our testing room

Examples of materials that can be tested or processed:

  • Organic materials: plant fibers, medicinal plants, protein flours, etc.

  • Food products: cocoa, locust beans, spices, sugars, etc.

  • Minerals: carbonate, kaolin, lime, oxides, phosphates, gypsum, bentonite, etc.

  • Complex mixtures intended for the chemical and cosmetic industries.

  • Other products, upon specific request.

The advantages of the Cimma testing room

  • Customized approach: each test is planned and managed tailored to the client’s needs.

  • Different technologies that can be combined to provide maximum flexibility.

  • Treatment of even partially wet, hard, fibrous, abrasive materials, etc.

  • Ability to process materials that require cryogenic processing.

  • Management of materials requiringdrying by desiccation technology.

  • Constant technical support throughout the testing process, up to the definition of the technical-economic proposal.
