Industrial pulverization: precision and flexibility

Cimma plants for fine pulverization of solid materials

Industrial pulverization represents a crucial process for all companies that transform solid raw materials into powders of controlled particle size. Sectors such as chemical, food, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and mining require reliable plants capable of producing homogeneous powders with precise dimensions and consistent quality over time.
At Cimma Morandotti S.p.A., we provide state-of-the-art technologies for every pulverization need. Our plants integrate grinding, pulverization and particle size selection systems into a single efficient line, capable of minimizing waste and optimizing yield.

Each project is customized: we study the most suitable solution for the material and performance required by the client.

From mill to classification: how the process works

The raw material is fed into a custom-designed plant, which may include a hammer mill that prepares the material for fine pulverization and a micronizer mill, with or without an integrated classifier. The line with hammer mill and pulverizer is ideal for obtaining very fine and uniform particle sizes from even quite large material lumps. For specific needs of separation of fine fractions, precise particle size cuts and any post classification needs, the line is completed with dynamic micro classifiers capable of obtaining the desired particle size fractions.

The many sizes of CIMMA Morandotti S.p.A. hammer mills, pulverizers, and micro classifiers have the flexibility to meet demands with a very wide range of hourly throughputs and different particle size requirements.
Once ground, the pulverized material is transported in pneumatic suspension to a dynamic classifier built into the mill, which selects particles by size. The larger ones are redirected to the grinding chamber of the pulverizer mill for further reduction. Thus, a narrow particle size distribution is achieved, which can be adjusted through the speed of the mill rotor, selector switch, and by adjusting the airflow.

As mentioned, a post classification can further be considered for more specific needs of particle size cutting and separation of fractions with different particle size.

Microseparation for ultra-fine powders

One of the strengths of Cimma plants is the possibility of adding a dynamic microseparator. This makes it possible to obtain powders with fineness up to 99% < 10 microns. This system is ideal for materials that require a very precise particle size distribution. It is perfect in areas where powder quality is important to the final result.

Our plants can be adjusted quickly and easily, allowing the operator to change parameters according to production needs by means of the HMI interface with which each plant part can be controlled and commanded, with the possibility of storing parameters for each desired product. Flexibility is a key factor for companies that work with different raw materials, intend to obtain different products and need to manage variable production batches.
