Roller mill
Our Roller Crushers are adapted to a wide variety of processing operations as they can be set up with one or two pairs of rollers of appropriate shape and size. Types with two pairs of rollers are suitable for achieving a strong size reduction with a single operation; with one-pair types the reduction is less. We can supply rollers with large, medium, or small teeth, or rusticated, ridged, or smooth. The type and size are determined by:
a) the characteristics of the starting material;
b) the desired product
c) the hourly quantity to be processed.
Roller crushers essentially consist of a welded steel frame on which rollers are mounted on massive cast iron supports. Each pair of rollers consists of a fixed and a movable cylinder held by springs, in order to allow the passage, without damage, of any harder foreign bodies, with the possibility of adjusting the distance to vary the final grinding size. It is driven by a speed gearmotor, which transmits movement to the fixed roller with a chain. In turn, the fixed roller transmits motion to the moving roller through a pair of milled steel gears with elongated teeth. The rollers are kept clean by combs or scraper knives and are protected by sheet metal casings. For information purposes, the characteristics of the normal types are given in the tables, cautioning, however, that machines, on a case-by-case basis, may be built with different characteristics by appropriately combining standard elements.
Typical uses
Toothed or embossed rollers:
- Crushing of coke, hard coal and charcoal
- Granulation of fertilizers and chemicals in general
- Breaking of clod materials (clay, bentonite, sugar and the like)
With rifled or smooth cylinders:
- Granulation and grinding of hard and friable products (glasses, quartzites, feldspars, limestones, corundum, chamotte, and the like)
To fully exploit the possibilities of roller crushers, it is essential that the feed be conveniently adjusted and distributed as evenly as possible over the entire width of the rollers. It is advisable to adopt one or more magnetic plates when the possibility of iron pieces being mixed with the material arises.
